Sleep Apnea

Post a new topicby jim1590 on Fri Jan 04, 2008 9:49 pm

I'm currently being tested for being affected with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Apart from the usual symptons of unrestful sleep, extremely short attention span, the severely reduced abituity to concentrate and the constant drowsy feelying throughout the day no matter how much sleep i can get i also experience waking up during the night almost gasing for air while completely drenched in sweat with my heart pumping like i've woken up from the mother of all nightmares.

Another symptom I get is during the day when feeling drowsy or almost falling asleep is a feeling of complete confusion where i'm not quite sure where i am or what I'm doing for a few seconds during these episodes. Has anyone else experiences this. The feeling is almost like hitting pause on your own life and when you "come back" it feels like you're a few seconds behind whats happening?

Any comments would be great because it's completely doing my head in while waiting for more of these tests!

I don't know what is going on because I've had the night sweat thing for a long time but this hal=f dreaming half awake thing is new . and frankly it scares me. can anyone help me with this?

Yep - both of you sound like you are suffering from sleep apnea to me. In fact, those very symptoms are questions on the sleep questionnaire you will fill out as part of your sleep study. Go get diagnosed and start using your CPAP machine!!! You will feel a million times better!
