Parkinson's

Post a new topicby onewireges on Fri May 02, 2008 2:06 am

My Neurologist recently diagnosed me with having Parkinson's although I was only suffering from headaches and nausea from a fall I had 1 year earlier. I had a CT scan and an MRI on my neck done, both were negative. He then prescribed Mirapex (0.25 mg) 1x3 and Sinemet (50/100mg) 2 x daily. I still didn't display any sysptoms. After a month he upped the dosage of Mirapex 2 x 3. He also upped the Sinemet to 50/200. After 2 weeks I started having problems walking, maintain my balance and a loss of appetite.
Before I started taking the Mirapex and Sinemet, I walked 4 miles everyday in less than an hour.
I am sure he misdiagnosed my problem. But I am afraid to stop taking the meds because he said if I did it would cause some severe problems.
Is this true?
This has all occured since mid-February. I went from walking 4 miles to using a walker in 3 months with no prior syptoms.
Can this be reversed?

my doctor had me get a cat scan and it can show exactly the condition of your "niger gland" (not sure of spelling of this) and he can see exactly if you have pakinsons - this is not the time to guess !!
did you see a neuroligist ?? my G.P. diagonosted my parkinsons - i take genric Sinemet 50/200 - 3 times a day and it is working just fine. i have no symptoms anymore - unless i forget to take the pill
then i start shaking and lose my balalnce - i am 70 years old and have been on sinemet for 5 years

it's me again - i forgot to tell you the cat scan is of your - brain - not your neck (talking about the "nigre gland ) it is very small but they know where to look for it - it is very easy to see when you know where to look -- tell your doctor to show you the results of the scan
