Parkinson's Disease

My father was a surgeon, diagnosed about 2.5 years ago with Parkinsons. He will not do anything to help himself, including taking his medicine correctly. He is becoming increasingly violent, and today, he attacked me. He hit me twice in the face, and scratched me in the scalp. He has never been a nice man, but he is accusing my mother and I of “brainwashing” my daughter against him, and says alot to hurt both of us.

Hi,

My father has Parkinson's for the past 10 years. Before he was diagnosed with Parkinson's, he had a violent temper and terrible mood swings. I hate to be mean, but it was the Parkinson's that actually calmed his temper down because his movements were not as quick after he began to show the symptoms of Parkinson's and even if he was angry, his body did not allow him to physically make any quick movements. I have always wondered if bad tempers and mood swings occurred in Parkinson's patients before the disease begins to set in.
My father was also the same, he didn't take his medications, and he would blame my mother for his condition. With time he came to accept his condition and then started to take medication after he realized the medication made his body somewhat 'normal' again.
