What could this be?

Post a new topicby Ti-an on Sun Mar 30, 2008 1:55 pm

6 months ago I changed my foundation to a more expensive brand. It brought me out in tiny red spots. So, I decided to discontinue using it, but never since my face has felt tight and I also get this crawling feeling on my face as well as itching. It feels like there is bugs crawling under the skin. I can mostly feel this where the hair above the lip would be. I did try shaving it off to see if that helpe, but it didn't. My lips would also start to sting for no reason. I have been trying to avoid not wearing any make-up, as this seems to irritate it further. I have been to see my GP who said it sounded like dry skin. She gave me a moisturiser to try, which I've been using for a month now, but have found no improvement. I was using a moisturiser before my GP gave me one so I knew it wouldn't work. I've also got about 10 foundations in my make-up bag as I thought that was maybe the cause, but I've stopped wearing make-up for a month and it hasn't gone. I can mainly feel the tightness, itchying and crawling sensation on the left side of my face, chin and around my mouth. It's not there all the time, but most of the time. As soon as I put my foundation on it gets itchy and the lip gloss stings my lips. So, I've trying to aviod make-up. I have my 3rd appointment with the doctor to try and get to the bottom of this. I am convinced it's not dry skin as the moisturisers hasn't help! I was no rash or redness ect. Just a few spots, which most teenagers have. I'm 19 years old. Any ideas on what it may be?

Many thanks,
Tina

Sounds like a possibility of chemical sensitivity or allergic reaction. More than likely not due to neuropathy, which seems to strike the extremities. Try a dermatologist if your Dr. isn't listening to you.
