Squamous Cell Carcinoma LungMy 66 years old father was recent diagnosed a Squamous Cell carcinoma in his left lung by doing Ultrasound guided FNAC. Till now we did not talk about his illness as he is very much afraid of cancer. We are now awaiting for our oncologist for treatment. How long is the prognosis without taking treatment like 'Chemo'? We've bought an Amway's Protein Powder for him. No other treatment yet.
Re: Squamous Cell Carcinoma LungYou have yet to understand the complete scope of his cancer. They will grade his cancer according to its size, location(s) and if it has spread elsewhere. Based upon that information they can tell you the best treatment approach and the current information about how well it is working. Obviously lung cancer of any severity is serious and will merit some form of medical intervention. But do not be afraid of it. Get the information, follow the steps, think positive. It is not an automatic death sentence.
Re: Squamous Cell Carcinoma LungI met Oncologist today and I asked about the stage. He told me that it seems to be serious as the cells produced pleural fluids. We've decided to admit my father at a care center for further examination of his body fitness etc to ensure which type of treatment is to be given. As you said I do hope for the best for my beloved father. Thanks for your response.
