schizophrenia drugs cause impotence for 6 years

Post a new topicby purrin on Fri Feb 22, 2008 5:50 am

Hi I'm Celeste pleased to meet you I'm new here. I take anti-psychotics and they give me complete impotence - emotiionally and physically. I've just had to adapt but it's frustrating not being able to date. I'm 36 and I've had this right the way through the prime of my life my 30's. Before this drug I liked sex a lot. I've tried all sz drugs most of them do something debilitating and there aren't any more choices, I'm on the best one really so talking about changing meds isn't the answer there are none left to try. The drug that doesn't cause impotence makes me sleep for 20 hours a day and gives me heart problems. I'm thinking of going on that one and getting some heart drugs with it and coping with the somnolence just to get some relief from the impotence which is quite uncomfortable almost painful. But the somnolence is a bit ridiculous. In a few weeks when the sex therapist gets back I'm trying a testosterone supplement. Maybe that will help. I hope so. I would like to communicate with other people with female impotence and hopefully offer my compassion and support in case you are feeling disabled from sex like I am and it's not allowing relationships to happen or flourish like it used to. Perhaps we can at least keep each other company during this time. maybe next year a new med will come out for me. I've been waiting, I've tried two new ones already to no avail. One gave me low blood pressure and one made me sleep and I didn't get any relief from the sex dysfunction anyway. All dates care about is sex and obviously I feel inadequate with so much to explain that I mgiht not normally want to bring up. Plus I miss masturbating. Which I used to do everyday. My psychiatrist says I'm just unlucky and leaves it at that. they're hopeless.

Love

Celeste.
