canot open up while sex- vaginismus

Post a new topicby summali on Tue Jun 10, 2008 10:30 am

Hi,

I am a 26 year old female married since an year and a half to my boyfriend. After our mariage my husband was never so confident of his performance during sex that he used to avoid and i used to lie down frustrated more so that whenver he tried i (keeping in mind sex is painful) used to tighten up my vagina and thought that my husbands penis is too big for me. Such condition added to our sexual problems; my husband lost his confidence further and i developed a fear of pain and so here i am still a virgin. I dont know why but i do contract my muscles during intercourse and we have never been able to have it and my husband still avoids it. i dont know what to do; please if someone could help; we seriously want to have it and extend our family now. It is becoming very depressing for me day after day and my husbands does not seem much concerned about this issue though me and him are medically fit to have an intercourse.

I am so sorry to hear about your sexual difficulties. I suggest that you find a certified sex therapist. She/He can help with the emotional issues that this brings to your marriage, and a good therapist should also be able to refer you to medical professionals who specialize in vaginismus.

A good place to search for a therapist in your area is at AASECT.org - The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists. I am a member, as well as the therapist that I work with.

Another option is for you to contact a Physical Therapist. We have found that a lot of women have been helped a lot by working with a knowledgeable PT who understand womens pelvic disorders and vaginismus.

This is a problem that can be helped. You deserve to enjoy sexual intercourse without pain.

Also, one thing we always remind our clients is that you don't have to have intercourse to "have sex." There are many ways to be intimate and sexual. If you desire to be close to your partner, find sensual touches and sexual activities that you can both enjoy.

Hope this helps!
Becky
