My 30-year Miracle with Epilepsy

I have had epilepsy for a little over 30 years. It was caused by a very high fever when I was an infant, but it didn’t manifest itself until the age of 7 or 8. There were numerous medications that I had tried over the years: dialantin, tegretol, felbatol, lamictal, kepra.
But they were never really under control. I had been asked by my neurologist to consider the surgical route. My family and friends(as well as myself)weren’t real sure about the idea. All these years later, I ha...Read the full article

After reading your post I would like to say that it is wonderful that you have found a treatment that enables you to live a normal life. "Good luck with the driving!" I am 28 years old and have been diagnosed with epilepsy for a little over nine years now. My first seizure (grand-mal) occured two days after my son was born, which the doctor informed me was a result of low iron from blood loss. My seizures did not start occurring on a regular basis until five years later. I am currently on medication (keppro/Lamictal) with an occasional breakthrough seizure every year. The cause for my seizures is not known and may be hereditary. But I do know through experimentation that the atkins (low carb) diet helps control my seizure activity, and I am more prone to seizures during menstration. I would like to know more about how your doctor found the focal point of your seizure activity? Sometimes I have a deep sharp pain in my head around the upper right hemisphere. I have often wondered if this is some kind of indication as to where my seizures originate from. Sometimes I feel like my doctors don't really care about finding out what is causing my seizures or where they come from. I would like to know If anyone else has these kind of seizures.
