What is scaling?

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Jun 30, 2001 12:27 am

Is scaling like dandruff? My question is tht I got a crew cut last week and w I noticed that there is sticky white areas on my scalp, like when your skin peels after a sunburn. I have to peel the sticky thin skin layers to get it off my scalp. It is also the top of my hair. My hair is thinning rapidly on the top of my scalp. When I wash my hair with zinc shampoo, the next day I take a comb and scrape my scalp lots of mainy little yellow brownish flakes come out with 50 to 60 hair stuck in it. What is this? Is this dry scalp? My scalp is not itchy even though I have been diagnosed with sebborhiec, and Neuro Derm and sebborheic Eczema? Is flucinonide and Derma smooth-Fs do the same thing pretty much? Is a tea tree and e Antiseptic cream with 5%tea tree E and 3000 iu good? it states it is good for dermatits, it contains alot of oils but it contains stearic acid as the fourth ingredient and cetyl alcohol as the sixth, do these substances make the condition of the scalp worse? Thank you so much. I have seen 9 doctors and still it is not getting better. Thanks again

Scaling is like dandruff. It sounds like you have psoriasis. You need somthing to loosen the debris, instead of combing it out and pulling the hairs with it. The tea tree and vitamin E sounds ok. Have one of your doctors give you a prescription for P&S solution. it will help disolve the coating. Also, continue the cortisones for now, to minimize the recurrence. Fluocinonide or Dermasmoothe FS is ok.
