Scaling/folliculitis

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Jul 04, 2001 7:51 pm

I am an african-american female who has been experiencing problems with scaling of my scalp and the folliculitis of my chest and back or is it acne? I am very frustrated because this soooooo annoying and becomes embarassing. The scales look like fish flakes with pores. I have seen many doctors but I still have not seen some relief from this condition. This has been an ongoing problem for the past ten years. One doctor prescribed flucinolone acetonide oint
ment. It covers it up temp.and eventually lifts the flakes. I am constantly lifting and combing out these flakes. I have tried shampoos with tar, nizoral, selsun blue, sulfur 8 shampoo, various hair products that claim to relieve by symptoms/problems. I even had one doctor to take a sample from my scalp and culture it. Please help b4 I am out of money. Is the folliculitis treatable? if so, with what?

This sounds more like seborrheic dermatitis than folliculitis. The shamppos you have tried are all indicated for that condition. Have your doctor prescribe clobetasol solution. It is stronger than fluocinolone. But this condition is often ongoing. Continue rotating the shampoos. You can apply aloe vera in your scalp too. You should also try supplementing with 50 mg zinc daily and essential fatty acids (such as fish oil, flax oils.
