Dermatitus

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Jul 06, 2001 12:11 pm

Hello.
I have had an allergic reaction to something, and I'm not sure of what. I was treated at the doctor's office and was prescribed two drugs. 1) Methylprednisolone and 2)Levaquin. Here are my questions: Why does my foot look like a bad case of dermatitus with scaly skin snd letherly looking skin? The itching occurred on my feet real bad, and just in certain spots on my legs. My second question is, how long after the medicine is in my system will the itching stop? My foot is itching like crazy, but my legs aren't itching as bad. I have eczema in the folds of my arms, and I use Elcon. I tried using it on my foot, but that doesn't work. I use a hydrocortisone cream on my foot, and it just eases the itching some. I have a referral to go to the dermatologist but that won't be for a few weeks. I want the itching to stop NOW. Please help with a response, and or let me know when is the medicine going to begin to work. I really appreciate it. Thanks.

The dermatitis on your foot is probably a reaction to what is going on with your leg. I expect you to get results within a day or two, due to the methylprednisolone. Ty applying cold packs to your foot, this will help with the itch.

Thanks for getting back to me. I tried the cold packs before I read your response, and it does work. My foot still has that scaly, wrinkled look to it, but it doesn't itch much anymore. Maybe a little every once in a while, but I believe that's from it being dry. Usually cocoa butter helps that. The antibiotics really worked. I still plan to visit the dermatologist. Thanks again for your response.
