biopsy

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jul 08, 2001 12:20 am

My question is getting a biopsy whith seborheic dermatits beneficial? The doctor told me to wash evey day with tar shampoo and use this costeriod foam on my scalp twice a day. I noticed i had yellow scales sticking and breaking off hairs all at the top of my scalp. That scaling has cleared away. But at the vertex and the base of my scalp my hair is thinning like the size of a big grape fruit. It is always burning there I but costeroids there and tar shamppos. I am wondering if the treatments are causing areata alopecia? Should I get a culture test and a biobsy done in this area? Thank You so Much.

If there is any question, I recommend a fungus culture or microscopic exam. This is simple and not expensive. I have not heard of any treatments a syou are doing causing alopecia areata. It is not acting clasically like seborrheic dermatitis, so if it still is worsening, then a biopsy might help.
