corns

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Aug 29, 2002 6:46 pm

I used to have corns on 4 of my toes. I started buying only comfortable shoes and walking in socks whevever I am home. I don't really have corns anymore, but you can see where they once were (scars?). I never go barefoot because I don't want anyone to see my ugly feet. I do wear sandals, as long as they cover up my foot flaws! Is there anything that can help these "scars" go away? I am desperate! Do you think a podiatrist, dermatologist or plastic surgeon could hit them with a laser or something? There has to be a way to fix this! I don't want to be hiding this problem forever! Thanks for any advice.

Corns often cause the skin to lose pigmentation due to the pressure on the skin. Sometimes, the color never comes back. However, the corns are normally caused by hammertoes which create the pressure. Therefore, surgery can be performed to remove the hammertoes as well as the skin that is discolored. However, I do have to warn you that you will have a scar left form the surgery so this is not always a soloution. You should talk to a podiatrist about your options.

Would fading cream help lighten the scars on the toes?
