For the last couple of months I have had a change in my bowel movements. I am a 51 yr old female. Sometimes I have very soft stools and have a lot of gas sometimes when I feel like I have to go I only pass large amonts of mucus looks sort of like the mucus plug before you deliver a baby.Sometimes even when I go I feel like i need to go again.Now lately I have pain and a heavy feeling down low and quite a bit of pain in my back. should i be concerned?

Don't fool around go and get it checked out. Get a colonoscopy if they make you wait to long to get an appointment just go to emergency ward and tell them you have a lot of pain and they will do an x-ray they get results faster then waiting for your doctor to set up appointment don't wait over two weeks.
