about my childmy son is now 3 & half years old. yet he can’t sit himself. his phisiotherapy is going on since last three years.his intelectual status is exelent. his speech is affected, speech therapy is also going on. here in india social acceptance is very poor. people put all these childrens in one categary i.e. m.r. it is very hurting.

Re: about my childdon't despair, you are doing all you can for your child. My grown up son was over three before he could sit unsupported, could not speak a sentence until six years old but lives in his own flat making his own decisions. yes he will always need a replacement for his hands but he is very much in charge of his own life. People often put the phone down on him because of his impaired speech but that doesn't stop him making the next phone call. Other people's reactions do hurt but you and he have to develope a tough skin. Even in countries with advanced equality laws changing people's perception of disability takes a long time and some people will never change .
