grindingMy daughter is 5. She grinds her teeth during her sleep. I try to wake her up to get her to stop. My concern is about something I read about Bruxism. article stated most cases caused by stress or anxiety Is true? Does mean my daughter is upset about something? Can she grow out of ?
Sponsored LinksRe: grindingThe association between stress, anxiety and bruxism has really been called into question recently and the relationship, if any is not that strong. There are no studies of individual patients showing that they "outgrow" their bruxism. It is known that the incidence of bruxism does seem to be lower in older age groups so one might conclude that some doe outgrow it, but this has not been confirmed. One common treatment for it is to have a dentists fit a mouth guard. I would encourage you to ask her dentist about her teeth to see if treatment is needed currently.
