Asthma meds

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Sep 05, 2002 1:22 pm

My father used to be under really good control with the use of Beclamethasone inhaler along with Albuterol inhaler. The pharmacist told him that they aren't making that anymore, and his Dr. tried him on Singulair-which did not help him at all.
My Dad sounds terrible, he has wheezing across all fields, and feels terrible. He is not overweight, doesn't smoke (quit 30 years ago), and is 66 years young.
He uses his nebulizer some days up to 3 times, and prior to this (when using the inhalers) never used it.
Any ideas?

There are inhalers with medications similar to beclamethasone. Has he been tried on those? If not, that would be a good start.

I am not familiar with that particular medication but it sounds like a steroid. He probably needs so be on another one. I have personally used Advair for years it stopped working even at the highest dose. Now I am on Pulmicort via nebulizer every 12 hours and singular. I don't know if the singular really helps.
Anyway sounds like your dad needs to be back on some type of a steroid.
