spiking high blood pressure

Post a new topicby dsprbp on Tue Jan 01, 2008 2:53 pm

I am a healthy 55 yr old female who for several months has been dealing with increased blood pressure-my normal is 105/68, or there about, and with no warning it can go to 170/11- with a pulse of 100. I feel the onset from heart beat in my ears, to my eyes burning and turning a little red, like when you have a temp, to papataions, to some increase on chest pressure and my voice always get scratchy when this happens. My primary care dr sent me straight to the ER for this on Dec 17th. The EKG was normal, I attempted the tread mill, but after 4 minutes they had to stop, shortness of breath, a little chest discomfort, but BP of 233/120 and pulse of 120. This week I have had an echo, which was normal, and a cardiolite stress test in which the blood pressure did the same thing. I have not got those results back yet. In 1996 I had a basketball size cyst removed off my left kidney, the bean part of the kidney had to be removed as well as 1/2 of one of my ribs. I have never been told what if anything was done to the adrenalan gland, but could this have anything to do with this BP. I now have 2 cysts on same kidney, one on top and one inside. I will go this Friday to talk with my urologist and get some testing done. No cardiac signs were elevated in ER, cholestral is 195, all chemistries were normal. Can scar tissue to the kidney present the same as heart issues? Just can't figure put what's making it go up and down? Thanks for you help.
