louise, i'm sorry to hear about your dad, it sounds like you love him very much. i have been recently diagnosed with als myself, i'm 47 and have a 6 year old son. he knows something is up because i can no longer run with him, but he tells me 10 times a day he loves me and that is what a dad needs more than anything. you stay strong and hold his hand and talk to him about all the wonderful things you remember about him and how much he means to you and how much you love him everyday. read to him especially from the book of psalms. God bless you, merrill

I lost my Dad and 4 others from the family to this disease so I know your pain and I am sorry. Merrill, you are amzing and God will bless you and your son. Be encouraged by the recent passing of the ALS Registry and the US Military granting benefits and admitting a service connection. There is also a lot of progress in finding a cure for this disease. Please get connected with your local ALSA chapters as they are the only healthcare organization that focuses exclusively on ALS. Take care!
