brain blood flow abnormalities

Post a new topicby htoomim on Thu Oct 18, 2007 2:23 pm

I have become aware of Hemoencephalography (HEG) as a treatment method usng blood flow in specific brain regions to strengthen by exercise those areas failing our children because of insufficient development. I have seen a report of this method being used in Thailand with 180 autistic children where 80 high functioning autistic children on average gained almost 1 Grade Point in their Grade Point Average (GPA). The GPA is a 4 point scale maintained each semester on all children in the Experimental School at Kaesart University in Bangkok.

The study was financed by the Thai Royal Family because they had been having too many autistic children in the royal lineage. They started studying Autism in 1968 and have been continuing to furnish free treatment to all Thai citizens who couldn't pay.

I have found a published Thai report on this study. It was done in 2004 and appeared in the 2004 Proceedings of the 2004 Annual Samitivj Scentific Meeting

If anyone has information on this method please respond.

hello, thank you for this information. i've looked for the study mentioned in your post, because as far as i know there is no CURE for autism. are you suggesting that brain blood flow is related to autistic symptoms? wasn't the thai prince autistic? i think he perished in the tsunami a few years ago. is the rate of autism greater in thailand? are you aware of any other programs (closer to home) providing this treatment? thanks in advance for your reply?

I have been studying neurofeedback hemoencephalography ( see Google for references) as a non invasive treatment for autism. I have concluded autism is a brain development disorder that can be helped with intensive brain exercise targeted to the brain module primarily responsible for the deviant behavior.

For example the lack of speech focuses of Werneke's area or Broca's area. These can be separated if the child understands spoken language but cannot form words. In this case exercise of Broca's area is indicated. Hemoencephalography can be focused on this area and its exercise measured by increased oxygenation of the target area.

The prefrontal cortex, the brain's executive area, is largely in charge of brain activity. This brain module is very vulnerable to malformation or insult. In most cases treatment here is very salutary.

The prince who perished in the tsunami was under treatment with hemoencephalography. He had improved considerably. He was a subject in the published papre that I coauthored in the Procedings of the Samitivej Scientific Annual Meeting 8-10 Sept 2004.

There are treatment centers in many places in the USA. I understand we are not allowed to present addresses or identifications on this forum.
